Description

Consisting of oil pressure/temperature sensors, a sleek screen that mounts inside the factory instrument cluster and a tiny control board that goes on the back, this kit is meant to blend in with the OEM looks while providing crucial gauges about the engine. The screen comes in either metric or imperial units and with 3 layout options for you to choose whichever you like best:You may also mix the units (for example temperatures in °C, pressure in PSI or temperatures in °F and pressure in BAR).As a standard feature, the kit will change brightness (dim/brighten) and color (white/red) automatically to match the cluster at all times.Another standard feature is the screen turning bright red in case a gauge triggers an alarm for overheating, lack of oil pressure, or too high of an engine oil temperature.Default alarm levels are:

  • Coolant temperature > 225°F / 105°C
  • Oil pressure < 7 PSI / 0.5 bar
  • Oil temperature > 230°F / 110°C

These can be changed, for free, during checkout (leave a message). Or by you, with the optional customization keyboard, at any time.

Attention to detail is the norm here! Since the screen has to cover the cruise control lights, and in some clusters even the low engine oil light, these two have been moved over into the screen:These CRUISE/LOW LVL indicators require no extra wiring — they are taken from the car’s native CAN bus. Thus, the kit maintains FULL OEM functionality and looks! The RX8 Cluster Gauge Kit includes:

  1. Instructions — ~60 pages of step-by-step, illustrated installation instructions.
CLICK HERE to read the instruction manual.
  2. All required hardware: modified banjo bolt, oil temperature sensor, oil pressure sensor, plug-and-play wiring
  3. Screen assembly
  4. Control board and all miscellaneous items required for install
  5. Monday to Sunday email support

Installation can be done in 3 ways: soldered-in kit, plug-and-play kit, or an entire pre-modded cluster for those looking for the absolute easiest way.

Shall you order an entire pre-modded cluster and all the extra features, the contents are:

Since the car does NOT come with oil pressure/oil temp sensors, these are provided with the kit. Installation is as follows:

  1. Oil pressure sensor installs where the OEM oil pressure switch used to sit.
  2. Oil temperature sensor installs in the front timing cover (where oil is hottest, after passing through the engine). A modified banjo bolt is included.

Optional extras:

  1. Modding the factory coolant temperature gauge scaling: Under stock function, the needle stays in the middle between 160°F–235°F (70°C–113°C) and won’t move until 245°F (120°C). Too late to save the engine! This mod makes it respond from 212°F (100°C), maxing at 230°F.

  1. Customization keyboard: plug-in keyboard lets you change parameters like layout, units, alarm levels, sensor calibration, hysteresis, screen color mode.

  1. Rotary compression tester: the kit can show 3 raw compression readings, cranking RPM, ambient pressure, and corrected values. Color-coded for clarity. Normally $170 standalone — best to bundle here.

  1. Logging via OBD2 (Torque Pro, Dashcommand): The kit outputs true oil pressure & temperature, behaving like the ECU’s own OBD2 sensors.

* Full hardware is included for all optional extras.
* NOT compatible with automatic RX8s (unless you don’t mind losing gear indication).
* NOT compatible with Series 2 RX8s (different cluster design).

absolute bliss. can’t beat the price, looks, and customer support. I bought a complete cluster and just swapped it with mine in a few minutes, easy as can be.

This is a great kit. There were some hiccups but we managed to sort everything out, finally I can ditch the OBD reader with all of its bluetooth connectivity issues. Highly recommended.

Only a couple of things I wish for(and would pay for an upgrade later on) is a faster screen, for monitoring stuff like AFR 10hz just isn’t sufficient. It’s nice that it’s there but it could be improved – and again, I would willing to pay for a 30 or 60hz screen.
Most of the connectors are fool proof except for the keyboard for some reason.
The font looks nice and perfectly serviceable but if we are going for the OEM look we should go all in, it should be all digital like the factory fonts IMHO.
The quality of the 3d prints in some areas is meh, I spent some time sanding it down and looks much better.
Didn’t have the chance to try the compression tester yet so no idea about it.

But again, this is a great kit, I would buy it again in a heartbeat(except not in December, Jesus Chirst took almost a month to arrive and the two countries share a border)

Nice bit of kit. The instructions cover everything. I got the version with plug and play wiring so that cut down some of the install effort. Most of it is with installing the oil pressure sensor because access to it is difficult but not impossible. I appreciate that in the end there is no oil filter adapter which makes replacing oil filters difficult. I had that issue with the old racingbeat setup i had, and I was glad to get rid of it entirely.
Other than that, I am pleased with the purchase and the support received. Seller answered in a few minutes even if it was 4 in the morning, much to my surprise.

Love mine. Bought on sale black friday with an entire cluster and was surprised to see the odometer matched and had no issues installing the new cluster. No check engine lights nothing. Took 10 minutes on swapping clusters and maybe an hour to do the sensors. The oil sensor one is tricky but doable. The instructions cover it well.
