MX5 NA-NB Cluster Gauge Kit V2

(3 customer reviews)

Original price was: $359.99.Current price is: $299.99.

This is a nifty little screen that mounts inside your MX5 of any generation prior to 2005 and shows you coolant temperature, oil pressure and oil temperature. 3rd generation 2005-2015 MX5s are also supported, but they have a different layout and thus, the kit is different. You can see the kit for 3rd gen MX5s HERE! (click me)

The NA and NB have different clusters, select yours.
The screen can go inside the cluster in place of the oil gauge, or sit in a gauge pod as a standalone 52mm gauge.
Allows you to change a lot of customization parameters at any time: colors, alarm levels, gauge pages, shift light parameters, units of measurement, which gauges are shown, etc.
Overall LCD color selection - scroll down to see each option.
Support for either OEM Mazda ECU, or Haltech standalone ECU.
The car lacks true oil pressure or temperature sensors. Unless you plan to run a Haltech ECU, you will need a Bosch 2 in 1 oil pressure and temperature sensor or separate sensors.
The kit can reuse the factory coolant temp sensor(the one which feeds the factory coolant gauge), or use a separate sensor for better precision. Option includes the sensor with 1/8 NPT threads and wiring.
Multicolored light bands indicate when you're getting near the redline. A buzzer can also sound when you're near redline. RPM thresholds are adjustable.
For people that bought the old kit and want to upgrade to the V2 one. If you had extra features, do NOT select/pay them again. You will get all your existing features for free on the V2. A $150 refund will be sent after the initial order has been verified.
Grand total

Description

This is a custom made digital multifunctional gauge set for the 1st and 2n generation Miata, of all engines and gearbox variants. It adds aftermarket performance whilst keeping OEM looks and integration into the factory instrument cluster – because that’s what “cluster” means – all the important things in one place.

This kit does NOT need a standalone ECU. In fact, it works with anything, stock ECUs included!

Coolant temperature can be taken from the original coolant temperature gauge(no extra sensor needed). The OEM coolant gauge is NOT affected and will continue to work as it always has. If you no longer run the OEM cluster or it suits you better, the kit can be supplied with a separate, dedicated coolant temperature sensor. You can mount it anywhere you like(it has 1/8NPT threads) and has a much better accuracy compared to the Mazda temp. measurement setup.

Oil pressure and Oil temperature are taken from a Bosch 0261230340 combined temperature and pressure sensor. It installs where the OEM oil pressure sender/switch used to sit. A cheaper option is to use a shorter oil filter and an oil filter adapter, but that creates undue hassle. This variant, with this Bosch sensor is the absolute best way around it!

The screen comes in numerous styles you can select from.

And if you happen to start missing the old oil pressure gauge look… it can be brought back!

Or, for those really into analog gauges:

ANY style can go with ANY year MX5. Some are made to closely match the OEM cluster looks, but you can pick whatever you like best.

You can also select if you want imperial or metric units of measurement(Fahrenheit/Celsius, PSI or bar) or a mixture of the two.

Installation can be done in 2 ways: inside the cluster as shown before or as a standalone 52mm gauge that you can stick it in any place you want.

All screen styles also feature alarms – the levels are which they go off are adjustable before purchase or via the customization keyboard; or you can leave them as is and they go off at :

– 225F (105C) for coolant temperature

– 230F (110C) for oil temperature

– 10 psi (0.6 bar) or less, for oil pressure

All screen styles can use either Fahrenheit, PSI, Celsius or BAR in any combination you like. Select using the drop down menus when ordering, or get the customization keyboard and change them as you wish.

Automatic screen brightness control(dims up and down with the rest of the cluster) is a standard feature on all kits – so is changing the style based on the headlights being on or off. These features can be enabled or disabled at any time.

An optional shift light is available too – and it won’t require any extra sensor(as long as your factory tachometer works and you are on the factory ECU – compatibility with aftermarket ECU is not guaranteed).

Another very handy extra is the customization keyboard – allows you to change alarm levels, units of measurement, LCD styles, and even further trim the temperature readings the kit gives off. All changes are saved forever, and the keyboard can be left unplugged when not in use.

Getting the optional customization keyboard also grants access to a built in G meter!

Installation is VERY easy – no soldering or splicing of wires needed! Merely take the cluster face apart, unscrew the original oil pressure gauge, screw in the new screen and use screws to attach some wires on the back. Of course, full instructions are provided, along with all needed hardware.

Kit contains:
– screen assembly with mounting stand (beware, different for NA and NB(FL) clusters) and plug-and-play wiring
– Bosch combined oil pressure and temperature sensor (with mounting adapter and plug-and-play wiring harness)
– if so configured, a separate 1/8 NPT coolant temperature sensor + wiring harness (but no other special mounting adapter)
– electronic control unit (screws on the back of your cluster)
– optional customization keyboard
– installation instructions

Here is the user installation manual – tap me!

Note: the retrofit offer is only available to customers who can provide proof of purchase for a previous V1 kit. This would mean indicating an order number, or name/address and date of the previous purchase.

Excellent addition to my 1997 miata. Always despised the idiot gauges in the dash. I already lost an engine once when the oil drain plug came loose and slowly but surely weeped oil during a long drive that ended a few hundred miles off home. Bought this just for that low oil pressure alarm and it’s totally worth it. I also drive at night mostly so I enjoy the light on the screen going down automatically not to be an eye sore.

As described. Upgraded from the older 2021 kit as I liked the new screen. I already knew it would be nice based on the old kit, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out it looks far better in person that the pictures on the site(reflections/lights aren’t that great).
I did run into one small issue that I caused myself(tore a cable) and I got a replacement sent next day, for free.

Bought mine after seeing it a friends car. Turns out he had an older one and after he saw mine he upgraded his… circle of life.
A bit pricey but sure looks nice and has everything one can need.
